What is Silestone?

Silestone is the answer consumers seek for their surfacing needs. Silestone is a high quality surfacing product that is used for countertops, flooring, vanity tops, tub surrounds, tabletops and much more. Silestone offers a unique mix of strength and elegance in all surfacing applications.

Silestone is the leader in engineered stone and quartz surfacing materials!

What is the Difference Between Engineered Stone and Quartz Surfacing?

Engineered stone is a surfacing material that results from a patented state-of-the-art technology that combines natural materials with binders and pigments through a unique manufacturing process.

Quartz Surfacing is a type of engineered stone material that is composed mainly of quartz, one of nature’s hardest elements; surpassed in strength and hardness only by diamonds, sapphires and topaz.

Silestone is quartz surfacing. It is composed of 93% natural quartz, which gives Silestone the unique properties sought by today’s consumers of durability and clarity of color. Silestone looks and feels like granite or limestone, but is much more durable than any other natural stone.

What makes Silestone Unique?

Silestone is a superior surfacing material providing both strength and elegance. It is manufactured in Spain by Cosentino, S.A. and is ideal for both residential and commercial use.

Backed with 70 years experience in the stone industry, Silestone’s manufacturer, Cosentino, S.A. is a leader in natural stone products and the leader in engineered stone. Cosentino, S.A. uses the finest raw quartz from locations throughout the world to create Silestone’s unique colors and textures.

Silestone has been installed in homes and commercial projects throughout Europe, Asia and South America for many years. Introduced regionally into the United States in 1998, Silestone has become the namesake for engineered quartz surfacing by consumers and architects throughout the nation.

Informed consumers have discovered the advantages of Silestone over other products. Silestone is highly stain-resistant – never needs sealing. It is highly scratch-resistant, virtually maintenance-free, and easy to clean. Silestone comes with a limited manufacturer’s ten-year warranty and is available in a wide array of colors to complement any décor!

Stain Resistant

Silestone is non-porous and virtually impossible to stain! Stains that are often permanent like red wine, juice, oil, markers and ink are easily wiped clean with soapy water or a multipurpose cleaner.

Burn Resistant

Silestone can withstand reasonable exposure to heat from pots and pans without fear of burning or discoloration.

Scratch Resistant

Silestone is made of quartz, one of nature’s hardest minerals. The only minerals with a higher density are diamonds, sapphires and topaz. Normal household abuse from knives, keys, etc. will have no effect on your Silestone countertops or tile floors.

Bacteria Resistant

The E.Coli and Salmonella that live in some of the foods prepared in the kitchen are wiped clean from your non-porous Silestone countertop. The pores in granite, marble and other natural stone provide a home for these bacteria to grow and flourish. Silestone is a truly hygienic countertop and has federal government approval for use in commercial food applications, unlike natural stone. Silestone has also received rabbinical approval for Passover use. You can even clean fish on Silestone without the oils and smells penetrating as they do on natural stone!
